This is a wonderful, traditional Gothic tale!   Ms. Michallet-Romero's book expertly combines many aspects of traditional Gothic literature into an entertaining read. That she made me care enough about her characters to talk back to a book shows her skill as a writer. Ms. Michallet-Romero's writing is vivid. I often found myself seeing her tale unfold in my mind as if I were watching a movie.
